Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung) today announced the UpStage(TM) by Samsung (SPH-m620), SCH-i760, Samsung BlackJack(TM) (SGH-i607) and WEP410 Bluetooth(R) headset as CTIA Emerging Technology Award Finalists. The newest and most innovative products nominated in this prestigious program are judged by an elite panel of qualified judges based on innovation, functionality, implementation, importance and wow factor.
Samsung’s finalist products continue in a long line of innovative design and engineering. The UpStage by Samsung, a union of slim style and function, includes dual LCD screens, an intuitive touch sensitive navigation keypad and dedicated keys to isolate the music and voice interfaces. To help optimize the music experience, the UpStage by Samsung comes standard with two important accessories; an extended battery wallet and a 3.5 mm headphone adaptor with microphone. Additional features include Stereo Bluetooth 2.0 (TM), including Bluetooth Caller ID, which voice alerts users to phone calls while they are listening to music, a MicroSD card slot and a 1.3 megapixel camera and camcorder.
Samsung’s SCH-i760 and Samsung BlackJack have both been named finalists in the Hardware-Smartphone/PDA category. The SCH-i760, Samsung’s newest smartphone, operates Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 allowing easy access to Microsoft Windows programs such as Word, Excel and even PowerPoint. This device is designed with a simple horizontal slide that reveals a full QWERTY keyboard. In addition, the SCH-i760 features a 1.3 megapixel camera and camcorder, MP3 player, as well as landscape and portrait display, WiFi capabilities and stylus pen.
The Samsung BlackJack is a world-class Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 smartphone with QWERTY keyboard, thumbwheel dial, direct push email, 1.3 megapixel camera, enhanced document viewer, MicroSD(TM) slot, Bluetooth(R) 2.0 and messaging capabilities.
Additionally, Samsung’s WEP410 Bluetooth(R) headset, has been selected in the Hardware-Wearable Device or Fashion Technology category. Samsung’s sleek, minimalist-designed Bluetooth(R) version 2.0 headset combines style and class while providing constant and comfortable hands-free communication. The WEP410, weighing a mere 7.4 grams allows consumers to utilize call origination from headset, call receiving, number redialing, call rejection, volume control, voice dialing depending on the handset, indicator alert tones and LED indicator light, three party call handling, mute, call waiting and call hold. The canal type ear piece will comfortably fit in your ear for up to four hours of talk time and up to 70 hours of standby time.
First, second and third place winners in each category will be announced at the Emerging Technology Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mobile Entertainment eXpo Stage located in Hall A at the Orange County Convention Center.
